Gaining its namesake with the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers converging just north of Montgomery to form the headwaters of the Alabama River, the `River Region` has become home to many `Alabamians` and offers a wide variety of opportunities for things to see and do.
Consisting of the Capitol City, Montgomery and the main surrounding communities of Prattville, Millbrook and Wetumpka, the River Region is rich in heritage and history. Home to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Maxwell AFB, the Hank Williams and Rosa Parks Musuems, the First Whitehouse of the Confederacy as well as holding the distinction as the start of the Civil Rights Movement with the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
The area is rapidly expanding with the addition of the new Hyundai plant south of Montgomery many other growing businesses in and around the area.
Residents and visitors alike find many interesting things to do and see in the River Region.
